Private dining South Bank Brisbane follows a familiar pattern at most venues: a separate room, a set menu printed weeks ago, staff split across the main floor. The food arrives at the right temperature if you’re lucky. It’s fine. Nobody complains. Nobody remembers it either.
We’ve tried to do something different at Sage Yellowfin, which is to treat private events like restaurant dining — not like catering. The kitchen that cooks your birthday dinner is the same kitchen that serves our regular Friday night room. The produce sourcing doesn’t change because you’ve hired the space. The same char-grill, the same Queensland King Prawns from the same suppliers.
That sounds like it should be standard. For a lot of private dining in Brisbane, it isn’t.
Who Uses Our Private Dining South Bank Brisbane Space
The range is wider than most people expect. We host birthday dinners from 8 to 60 people, corporate lunches for executive teams, anniversary dinners for couples who want a semi-private setting, farewell dinners, engagement celebrations, and end-of-year team events.
The space is flexible — semi-private within the main dining room for groups that want atmosphere alongside privacy, or a fully private arrangement for events where discretion matters. For corporate events and full buyouts, we work through the enquiry form. That conversation usually starts with a date, a rough headcount, and any dietary requirements — from there we turn around a menu proposal and quote within 24 hours.

What the Menu Looks Like for Private Dining South Bank Brisbane
For private groups we work from a shared menu — it simplifies service, gets food to the table faster, and creates a better group experience than individual ordering. The kitchen designs the menu around your preferences and dietary requirements, not around clearing the most expensive items.
A typical private dinner runs through arrival canapes — our most popular combination is natural and Kilpatrick oysters, lamb kofta with labneh and harissa, and Szechuan calamari. This stage runs for 30–45 minutes while guests settle and drinks are poured.
Shared mains follow — char-grilled Queensland King Prawns, Fremantle Octopus, Moreton Bay Bugs with chimichurri, and depending on the season, Hervey Bay Scallops when they’re running well. We add a steak option (Riverina Black Angus) for groups where not everyone wants seafood.
Pricing for private menus varies with selection — a sharing seafood menu runs from around $65 per head; a premium menu with bugs, scallops and wagyu sits around $95. We’ll give you an exact quote based on your group size and menu choices.
The Oyster Bar Option
For cocktail-style arrivals or cocktail-only events, a dedicated oyster bar is the most-requested feature we offer. A team member shucks continuously throughout the arrival period — natural and Kilpatrick varieties, paired with sparkling wine or Champagne from our bar.
It creates an impression. It also gets people talking and moving around in a way that speeds up the social settling that every group event needs at the start.
Booking Timeline for Private Dining South Bank Brisbane
Weekend evenings fill quickly. If you’re planning a Saturday birthday dinner, three weeks’ notice gives us enough lead time to hold the space and prepare a menu. For weeknight events, one to two weeks is usually sufficient.
Corporate events needing invoicing or custom menus benefit from four to six weeks’ notice for anything requiring significant coordination.
